The Arezzo District
Villa Cilnia is set in the heart of Tuscany, precisely in that part of Tuscany still pure and untouched by the mass tourism, where you can spend your time quietly and happily, and live according to nature. Here you can relax by a swimming pool, take a walk in the woods, in the vineyards or… to go on some interesting trips in the Arezzo district.
The first leg of your journey is Arezzo, only 3 km (approx. 1,9 miles) away: set on a hillside, full of monuments, rich in history and tradition, Arezzo is the Italian capital city of gold and antique trade. You can find more information at the page Arezzo: Historical Background.
The Casentino. You can reach the "Parco Regionale del Monte Lignano", just a few steps away form our Farm, in 10 minutes or the "Parco Nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona and Campiglia" - one of Europe's widest National Park with its ancient wonderful forests - in 30 minutes.

Within the Park, it is worth visiting the old, medieval town centres of Poppi - and the Count Guidi's Castle - one of the best preserved in Tuscany - and of Bibbiena.

In the higher part of Casentino, you can visit also Pratovecchio, with its beautiful, romanesque parish church of Romena, and Stia, with its old spinning mills where the famous "Panno del Casentino" is produced. Two important catholic holy places are the Eremo of Camaldoli and the Santuario del Monte della Verna, founded by St. Francis.

For all the Golf's fans, the Casentino Golf Club is the perfect solution.

In the Val Tiberina, 30 km east of Arezzo (approx. 18,5 miles), you can find Sansepolcro - Piero della Francesca 's birthplace - with its old town centre and the valuable collection of Della Francesca's works - and Monterchi, where you can see a famous Della Francesca's painting, namely "La Madonna Del Parto". In the whereabouts, you can also visit the medieval villages of Anghiari and Caprese Michelangelo, with the family home of Michelangelo Buonarroti.
In the Val di Chiana, south of Arezzo, you can visit Castiglion Fiorentino, with the ancient Cassero, and Cortona, surrounded by its imposing walls, with its Etruscan tombs and a splendid view of the scenery as far as the Trasimeno lake. The Valdarno, west of Arezzo, with the town of San Giovanni Valdarno, was the birthplace of Masaccio, one of the most important Italian painter and also the father of the Italian Reinassance.
Siena, Perugia, Assisi, Florence are only an hour far from us. In two hours you can also reach Rome.
