Cign'Oro i.g.t. / The painter's Red

Villa Cilnia's new Supertuscan is produced with the Sangiovese, Cabernet-Sauvignon and Merlot grapes. Its colour is an intense ruby red one, with burgundy undertones: it has a rich and fruity bouquet with spices undertones. Its taste is refined and complex, with sweet tannins in evidence and a lasting and pleasant final. It goes well with game, roasted red meat and very ripe cheese.

The grapes are harvested by hand between the end of September and the beginning of October. The fermentation takes place into different steel containers where the temperature is severely controlled for 12 - 18 days, with daily wine pressings. Both of the wines are then carried into steel tanks where the malolactic fermentation continues until January. The three wines are aged and kept into barriques of French oak of 225 litres (approx. 50 gal.) for 16 months, and successively blended and bottled. Their refinement continues into bottles for 9 months. Acidity 5.5. Alcool 13 % vol.

Bruno Donzelli: a painter for Cign'Oro
The author of the Cign'Oro label is the famous painter Bruno Donzelli.
Born in Naples in 1941, with a diploma obtained in the Neapolitan Academy of Fine Arts, he begins his artistic research and experimentation in the Sixties, under the influence of the Pop Art. A constant ironic vein and a strong will to re-examine the Italian avant-garde of the XXth century are the most evident and unmistakable characteristics of his unique style. He now lives in Caserta (Italy), but his frequent exhibitions in Italy and abroad take him often all around the world. These are only some of his works.

"Donzelli, in his convincing dialogs with the History of Art, is the author of more than an original work. He is still continuing his sharp-witted and meditated artistic path. It is possible to admire Donzelli's works in a wide number of well-known art galleries. As an experienced and active artist, he is always in contact with new people and - moreover - he multiplies - day after day - his exhibitions. Energic and skilled, he "crosses" several art fairs to meet his future. His most astonishing characteristic is his continuous will to put himself to the test, through quotations or memories taken or enhanced by the most advanced trend of contemporary art. In a subtle game of references and extreme signals he lays out sparkling shades of colour and creates meaningful forms. He takes, basically from past contexts and circumstances, traces, documents, writings, memories, notes, evidences, acts giving them new life in an essentially playful combination. Donzelli proposes an evocative and charming style softened by enlightening mediations and by valuable technical devices. The artist meditates, develops and unveils our contemporary age balancing it with the awareness of an articulate "déja-vu", justifying - at the same time - a well-recognizable language."
